Co-Founder and COO, LiveU

A technology visionary, Avi Cohen co-founded LiveU in 2006 and is the company’s COO.  As the inventor of bonded cellular video transmission technology, Cohen is credited with ushering in the first IP revolution, which has transformed the way remote live content is captured and shared.

Under Avi’s leadership, LiveU has become the leader in portable live video acquisition, contribution and management solutions. Thousands of TV news networks, sports organizations, online media outlets, and individual content creators in nearly every country in the world rely on LiveU solutions to deliver live coverage of breaking and developing news, high-profile events, and entertainment programs. 

LiveU was recently acquired by Francisco Partners and IGP to further accelerate the live broadcasting company’s global expansion. Avi continues to steer the company’s success with the introduction of live streaming to new markets, applications, and services. 

Avi’s drive for innovation and entrepreneurial spirit have contributed to the authoring/co-authoring of more than 10 patents in cellular communications. Named one of the Producers Guild of America’s “Digital 25: Visionaries, Innovators and Producers,” Avi has been a frequent guest speaker and panelist at international conferences discussing topics such as cellular communication developments, disruptive technology and the future of broadcast technology. He’s appeared on television programs including CNBC’s Squawk Box, CBS’ Innovation Nation and Bloomberg TV. 

Prior to joining LiveU, Cohen held leadership roles at Intel and Motorola specializing in cellular communications and modern technology. 

Cohen holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Systems Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. He serves as an Advisory Board Member for the Biomedical Engineering Department at Stevens Institute of Technology.
