Edna Erez is Professor of Criminology, Law, and Justice at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has a law degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a PhD in sociology/criminology from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on crime victims in the justice system, violence against women including immigrant women, and women and children in terrorism She will share some of her findings in this thought-provoking talk.

Professor Erez will speak on the history of the military court, where most of terrorism cases are tried, and victims involvement in court proceedings that address the harm they sustained. The varied and often contradictory experiences of participants in these cases, including the victims, are discussed, and policy implications are drawn presented.
