Shir is a proud Israeli-American who was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.

Upon graduating from high school in 2013, Shir moved to the tiny city of Gedera, Israel to volunteer in a community service gap year program run by the Israeli Scouts. When she returned to LA, Shir started her general education studies in community college and simultaneously directed one of the Israeli Scouts chapters in Los Angeles, Shevet Harel, for 2 years. It was also then that she started hosting her radio show, CulTour, which combines two of her greatest passions: cultural exploration and informal education. Shir graduated from Chapman University in Fall 2018 with a BA in Communication Studies and a focus in broadcasting and leadership.
