Nissim specializes in identifying strategic trends to assist companies, institutions and governments in developing and implementing long-term plans. Building on over four decades of experience in business and economic development and twenty years of active engagement with Israel, Nissim’s current activities involve working with a number of Israeli private sector companies, VCs and think-tanks. Long-standing relationships with the relevant Israeli Government agencies complete this important network.
Corresponding partnerships in the U.S. with federal and state agencies and leading private sector financial institutions facilitate the creation of alliances and innovative approaches to national and global issues. As Principal Advisor to the Princeton Energy Group, Nissim works with Israeli companies in the renewable energy-water-security nexus, helping identify strategic partners and markets in the U.S. His October 2015 article on Israeli Water Technology & California: Bridging The Last Mile (WaterBiz) reflected accumulated lessons of experience and identified issues preventing rapid adoption of Israeli innovations in the U.S.
Nissim was a member of the EastWest Institute team which supported Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza in 2005. Working directly with the Office of Prime Minister Sharon and then Vice-Minister Shimon Peres, the team’s reports on The Erez and Gaza Industrial Estates: Catalysts for Development were also presented to the Palestinian Authority, and the Special Envoy of the Quartet – Mr. James D. Wolfensohn.
Prior to that, he spent 25 years at the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group - Washington D.C.) from 1975 to 2000, and managed IFC’s country relationship with Israel from 1994-2000. Nissim was then appointed Executive Director of the UN Commission on the Private Sector & Development, co-chaired by then Prime Minister Paul Martin of Canada and former President Ernesto Zedillo of Mexico. The Commission’s Report served as an agenda item at the G8 Summit held on Sea Island, Georgia (USA) in June 2004. Nissim’s consulting clients have included Darby Overseas Investments Ltd. (a part of Franklin Templeton Investments), Dalberg Development on whose Advisory Board he served as Chairman and FMO – the Dutch development agency.
