Prof. Dror Harats MD

Chair of Division for Research & Development & Director of Clinical Trials at Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer

Prof. Harats also serves as Chairman of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and President of the Bert Strassburger Lipid Center at Sheba Medical Center. He is a world known authority on Atherosclerosis and Vascular Biology.

Prof. Harats graduated the Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School; completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Hadassah Medical Center and a Fellowship in Pulmonary and Molecular Biology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

For the last 25 years he has been involved in cutting edge research in Lipid Metabolism, Atherosclerosis and Vascular Biology and has served as an entrepreneur and a consultant specializing in Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical healthcare companies.

Prof. Harats is one of the pioneers to study the role of the Immune System in Atherosclerosis, and invented new genetic tools for treatment of Angiogenesis, a process that plays a major role in Cancer and Cardiovascular Disorders.

His research has been published in over 180 peer-reviewed papers and chapters in books, and has been awarded numerous prizes and grants in the field of Atherosclerosis and Cancer.

Prof. Harats is a faculty member at the Tel Aviv University Sackler School of Medicine and a supervisor of many graduate and undergraduate students in his lab.
