Following his rise to the rank of officer in the IDF, Abraham Cohen arrived in New York in the mid 1980.
A self made man, Avi as he’s known to all, established the Avi Moving and storage company, and over the span of 35 years expanded into the self storage industry with locations throughout Brooklyn and Queens New York.
In addition, looking toward the future, Avi co-created an e-commerce lighting company called BulbAmerica, one of the Largest specialty light bulb company which supplies over 65,000 SKU’s to various industries.
However, what truly lights up Avi’s life are his beloved wife Marav, and their three children Adi, Rom and Edan. The family calls Great Neck their home.
Recognizing all the wonderful blessings in his life, Avi decided it was time to give back to his Israeli roots. It was after meeting a group of cancer stricken children who flew to NY and Orlando on a Dream Trip, that Avi recognized he had the potential to aid this cause on a larger scale.
In 2003, Avi founded Larger Than Life USA in new York. The organization aims to improve the quality of lives for Israeli children battling cancer, through its motto: happiness, health and hope. To date, Larger Than Life USA, has helped support countless Israeli children and their families in the US and Israel.
Serving as the volunteer chairman Today, Avi’s entire family volunteers annually in fundraising activities, and many of Larger Than Life’s projects in Israel.
