Over the next month, the Israeli-American Council (IAC)’s local chapters will partner with Jewish Federations, JCCs, and other organizations to celebrate Israeli Independence Day in Arizona, Boston, Chicago, Colorado, Florida, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New Jersey, New York, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, DC. More than 50,000 Israeli-Americans and Jewish Americans from diverse backgrounds and faith communities will come together to mark 70 years of Israeli statehood, in celebrations ranging from open air street
festivals and concerts, to art exhibitions and games for children.

In the Denver metro area, the Celebrate Israel festivities will take place over two weekends.  On Friday, April 20, the IAC will host a Israeli-style Shabbat dinner at Temple Emanuel in Denver with activities and a musical show for children performed by Israeli children’s entertainers Hanny Nahmias and Gili Ba Levaker.  On May 4, the IAC will throw an Israeli dance part at Mile High Station in Denver.

“We are thrilled to bring people together from across our coast-to-coast community to celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israeli Independence Day, in the single largest celebration of this anniversary outside of Israel,” said IAC’s co-founder and CEO Shoham Nicolet. “More than ever before, Israeli-Americans are a living bridge between Israel and America, and within the Jewish and pro-Israel communities here in the United States, and these celebrations reflect that.”

Between April and May, each region will commemorate Israel at 70 with events ranging from community Shabbat dinners to large music festivals. In Los Angeles and Florida, the celebrations will showcase the Israeli pop icons Static and Ben-El, who have toured with Justin Bieber and are now considered one of the most successful Israeli bands of all time.

Los Angeles will host the single largest Celebrate Israel festival, with over 15,000 participants expected to attend and participate in events like a one-mile “Celebrate Israel” walk to show support and solidarity with the State of Israel, headliner musical performances, and hands-on activities at the Taglit Innovation Center, where attendees can experience Israeli innovations in science, medicine, space, agriculture and more.

The IAC has grown exponentially over the past four years, from a local organization in Los Angeles to a national movement with 16 regional offices and activities in 27 states and a nationwide reach of over 300,000.
