Alon Stein is a first-generation Israeli American. Both his parents are Israeli, from Tel Aviv and Kfar Saba. He grew up speaking, reading and writing in Hebrew, which he learned at home and in Jewish day schools in Chicago.  Alon has been involved in several other Israel-related organizations and causes. He was previously on the board of JNF's Chicago chapter and is currently on the board of Maccabim Hebrew School, an Israeli-American Hebrew immersion school that is partnered with IAC. Alon is an attorney and managing partner of a firm that represents businesses in Illinois and Wisconsin. Alon is married to Nina, and is the father of two boys, Ari and Oren.
