Avigail Gans

I moved to the United States with my husband Yisgav, and then 3 years old son, Matan in 2002. We are raising our 2 boys, Matan and Noam, who are now 17 and 13. In Lexington, Where they are attending Lexington’s public  high School and middle School.

I have a BSc. In Psychology and Sociology and MSc. in Organizational Behavior Management From the Tel Aviv University. In Israel I held a variety of human resources positions, from recruitment management in Amdocs to HR management in a small startup.

My first involvement with the local Jewish community was through my first job in the US as an
admin at Temple Shalom Emeth in Burlington. I then became the principal of the Israeli School of Lexington,
An afterschool serving the Lexington and surrounding towns’ Israeli community.

After graduating from the Gvanim program I realized that I wanted to bring those 2 communities, the Israeli American and
the Jewish American, closer together. We are currently in the midst of my ‘Celebrating Together’ project,
In which the Lexington and surrounding town’s American and Israeli Jewish communities celebrate 7 Jewish and Israeli holidays and events together. We received a very generous grant from the IAC and already had 4 very successful events: Sukot (300 participants), Tu B’shevat Seder (220 Participants), Purim and Shishi Israeli (150 participants). Our next events are Yom Hazikaron, Yom Ha’Atzmaut and Lag Ba’Omer. I also volunteer with the CJP Boston Haifa Connection and this year I am co-chairing the Hatikvah Mission committee.
