Dear IAC Family,
Today we come together for the Fourth of July to celebrate the extraordinary opportunities and freedoms we enjoy as Americans. As President Ronald Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected and handed on to them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once to live in the United States where men (and women) were free”.
Barry Shrage, the outgoing President of the Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Boston (CJP), is clearly one of the greatest Jewish-American community leaders. In our first personal meeting he said "There is no one that can tell Israel's story better than Israeli-Americans. This is why we need you". Since then, I gain another piece of inspirational wisdom and knowledge, every time we meet. His vision and leadership were instrumental in establishing and maintaining the impactful collaboration between the IAC and CJP.
I would like to share with you Barry's recent article, “Israeli-Americans Can Bridge Growing Gaps in the Jewish World,” in which he calls these efforts a "once-in-a-generation opportunity." I encourage you to read the full article and to celebrate how, together, we must maximize this historic opportunity, creating meaningful collaborations, serving as a living bridge within the Jewish American community and building a coast-to-coast community with Israel in its heart and Israeliness in its spirit.
