Shay is an Israeli Shlicha from the Jewish Agency. In the past, she was heavily involved in education, especially with children with special needs. She did a pre-military preparatory gap year in Paran in The Arava region in Israel, focusing on politics, philosophy, and Israeli culture. During her military service, she served as a teacher in the Kedma youth village and worked with youth from difficult backgrounds.
