Shahar Edry grew up in Ben Shemen Israel. After his army service as a combat-medic he returned to Ben Shemen and accepted the responsibility for the education and social life of over 40 students.
Edry left Israel for an overseas business opportunity in Ecuador where he met his future American wife. This brought him to the US where he was introduced to the broader Jewish community. As Israel Center Senior Director for the Jewish Federation of greater Phoenix, Shahar executed large community programs, cultural events that drew thousands of participants, organized and lead “Birthright-Taglit” trips to Israel, and worked closely with the local Israeli- American community, integrating them with the local Jewish community.
Shahar holds a BA in International Relations and Political Science and is currently finishing his Masters degree at ASU in Nonprofit Leadership and Management. He is married to Kara, an artist, graphic designer and illustrator. They have a beautiful son Lev.
